Western Conference Caps by Supreme

Supreme is at again with their ability of branding with their latest being some caps in four colorways, green, blue, white, and black. All the caps have graphics that are very similar to the early 90s San Antonio Spurs. Also pay close attention to where the "U" in the supreme is shaped as a spur. The color of the graphics on the white and black hat is the same as the actual color of the Spurs old logo. I actually caught a look at these hats while I was in LA at the Supreme store and they pretty dope. Here is a few more pics for you...

Interview with Kairi Scott

Well as I stated before, from the 18th of April to the 25th, I will be in LA. Well my first task was to hit the Crooks & Castle party but due to flight delays, I did not make it out there on time. But I think I came home with something a little more valuable for me being that I am an outsider trying to get in. Well I had the chance to sit down with Kairi, a streetwear guru, and learn a valuable lesson. He also allowed me to sit down and interview him. Check it out...

WHAT IS YOUR FULL NAME?

Kairi Scott

WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION?

Everything dude. I am a store owner, designer, and so on.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DESIGNING?

I have been doing graphic design off and on for 10 years now.

WHAT IS YOUR PASSION?

My passion is clothing, design to be exact.

REASON FOR GOING INTO YOUR OCCUPATION?

I felt the game was missing something, so I decided to bring my own flavor which is more on a mature level.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?

Well I get my inspiration from a few things which are the ocean, colors, and music.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO ELABORATE MORE ON THEM?

Yea, I don't mind. The ocean to me is so unpredictable, super gourgeous as well as powerful. Also watching it makes me want to move and when I say move I mean step up a few more notches. Then colors can dictate a mood. They set a tone instantly. Music in some way is the same as colors but it is more for the word play. Word play is powerful.

WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO?

I am very open minded when it comes to music I listen to. I like genres like reggae, punk, hip-hop, jazz, and 80s rock just to name a few.

SO WHAT INFLUENCES DOES MUSIC HAVE ON YOU?

I like how music can cross different boundaries. Me myself try to design the same way. I want all my pieces to be accepted by everybody from the young skater to the more mature adult who is still into the street wear game.

OKAY, SO WHO'S YOUR FAVORITE OR MOST INFLUENCIAL ARTIST?

I would have to say Bob Marley because he stood for so much and his music touched all races and genres.

ALL RIGHT, I AM GOING TO THROW A FEW WORDS OR PHRASES AT YOU. I NEED YOU TO TELL ME THE FIRST THOUGHT THAT COMES TO YOUR MIND.

Okay, shoot.

SUPERSTAR...

I will have to say Kanye West. I am not really a fan of his work, but to me the way he makes people hear him and the things he talks about stand for much. He just knows how to bring stuff to the table.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT KANYE BECOMING A DESIGNER?

He has good taste. I don't see him as a designer, maybe more of a stylist. He as a good eye at picking what is in from different fashion trends and putting them together.

OK, WHAT ABOUT THE WORD UNIQUE?

Everybody feels they are unique. I tell you being unique in my days was not cool. You had to fight cause of it. The thing with being unique today is that everybody is doing the samething to be unique.

DO YOU THINK IT IS BECAUSE THE STREETWEAR GAME HAS BECOME FRONT PAGE NEWS?

Yes, I can definately agree with that.

LIMITED EDITION...

(laughs)That word still sounds nice to me. It builds up hype. I don't believe anything is limited edition. Maybe if you put it out to the mass then over a certain amount of time you hank it back, then maybe you can say that is a limited edition.

OKAY, NIKE...

Man, the best. Always at the forefront of the sneaker game. They are a bit money hungry. Wish they would slow down a little bit with their releases but I have always had a love for them.

ADIDAS...

When I think about adidas, I think about the Forum Hi. They are pleasing to the eye but not very comfortable.

PUMA...

The black sheep brother to Adidas. Only have love for the Clydes and that is it.

SUPREME...

They are OGs in the game. I really respect their hustle. Created the hype for streetwear. They introduce LA to NY street wear. They was not the first brand though.

STUSSY...

As west coast as it can get. They were the first to bridge the gap between skate and street.

UNION...

They brought that Supreme vibe to LA. I heavily dig them. Wish they had more range. If it was not for then I would not know what Supreme was.

IS THERE AN UP AND COMING BRAND THAT YOU FEEL WILL BE THE NEXT HIT?

I can't say, I really don't know. I have been looking hard and do not see it yet. Maybe it is me changing, I don't know. I would like to see more cleaner lines, silhouette, less graphics and more details.

SO IF YOU WAS ABLE TO CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE GAME, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHAT WOULD YOU REPLACE IT WITH?

Less bright colors. It will be more about the details. I am more drawn to the threading or the buttons on the pocket.

WHERE DID THE NAME OF THE STORE COME FROM?

The name of the store is Kingsbury and it was something my partner utter one day and it just stuck with me. Then it just fit because street dudes like to be the king and bury sounds mature. So it fits both worlds of the consumers I am attracting.

I LIKE THE WAY THE STORE IS SET UP, WHO CAME UP WITH THE CONCEPT?

I did the layout myself and self constructed the store by hand. The concept of the store was to make sure it is appealing to the young consumer as well as the older one. So for the young, I made sure it still feels like a skate shop, and for the older, it is something like a bar and a lounge. It is not just for your shopping convience, it can be a hang out spot too. We have bar-b-ques, there is beer, you can watch t.v., bring your laptop and just sit back and kick it. That was very important to me.

WELL YOU DID DO A GOOD JOB AT THAT, THE STORE DOES HAVE A CHILL VIBE.

Thanx.

LAST QUESTION, WOULD YOU RATHER HUNT FOR SNEAKERS OR ORDER THEM ON-LINE?

I rather hunt for my kicks. I am the type that likes instant gratification.

THANX FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW AND YOU ARE OFFICIALLY OFF THE JUST OUR STYLE HOT SEAT.

(laughes)

Here is a few pics of his store...

So if you are ever in the Beverly Hills area, take a trip to 3rd Avenue and visit Kingsbury. Tell him Rell sent you. And for us New Yorkers, the Kingsbury family will be opening up their first New York City location in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Kai, if the New York store is anywhere near your current store, it will be definately be an hit. Good luck on your future endeavors.

Just My Thoughts...

Since when was being a rebel the thing to be. Since when was standing out in. But wait, are you really standing out or fitting in because it seems to me that everybody wants to wear skinny jeans and rock a graphic tee. It is just a little funny to me, when the same people who use to come into H&M and talk shit bout me and my boy Terrill, would come back a month later wearing the same shit we had on. I should not be mad though, it is all part of the revolving circle. For example, I viewed the game from the outside once before and I fell in love with it. So I took something from it and then added my own flavor to it. Not to many people do that anymore. People buy what everybody else is buying and that is what makes the game cliche'. No more creativity, no more personal stylist. What happened to the people who can pick pieces from different genres and verge it together to make it like its all from one facet.

Man I wish one of these lines would go back to the basics. I need a tee with well detailed graphics. Give me a hoodie with a design on the draw string. Bring back the days where the tongue on your kicks did all the talking. I want some simplicity some days. Everything does not have to be these bright vibrant colors. For real, instead of trying to drop a new tee shirt every week, lets sit down and really design a shirt that a customer would wear for the rest of their life. Give me something I can wear to the club, on a date, and at a family gathering. I am just looking for something and someone to grab my attention as a consumer because these new things are not making me run to stores and buy. Not at all...

Adidas Retro - Mutombo

Dikembe Mutombo, known for waving his finger after every block he made during his career, also will be remembered for his humanitarian ways. Back in his hometown, Kinshasa, the capital of Congo, there is a $29 million hospital which is under construction. Make it known that Mutombo himself donated over $18 million to this project. Well on another note, Adidas will be retroing his signature sneaker which hit the scenes in the early 90s. Being that Mutombo bolted on Adidas and signed with Nike, these kicks will not have the number 55 on them as well as the tribal artwork that was outlined on the tongue. So not significantly like the originals but they are still eye-catchy. Look for them to drop early fall.

Kanye West x Nike

A new colorway of what is slated as the Air Yeezy. Kanye 1st drop his collabo on the schene with his Grammy performance. Now on opening night of his Glow in the Dark Tour, he steps on the schene with a new colorway. They appear to be a hybrid between the Marty McFly's, Air Jordan III, Nike Air Revolutions, and Nike Flight 89's. Here is a few pics. For more news on them, you can always go check out Kanye's personal blog.

Okay, I don't know. Maybe it is just me, but I see the Zoom Lebron 2s in there...

Nike Dunk - Japan Pack

As you can tell, Nike has been focusing a lot of energy on dunks this year. Well here is the latest collection from the Nike family which is called the Japan Pack. The pack consist of four different pairs of dunks. Each dunk celebrates a city in Japan. The four cities represented are Tokyo(white/black), Nagoya(gold/green), Fukoaka(retro colorway), and Osaka(red/white/sky blue). My favorite ones will have to be the Tokyo joints. I just like the colorway and simplicity of them. They are more versatile and will have more of an longevity then the other 3. Also if you check out the laces, they are not your typical laces. Not quite sure what material it is but if I get information on them, I will relay them to you. I also like them because of what they represent, Ling Ling, the giant panda who arrived in Japan in 1970. Nagoya dunks represents the symbol of the city which a gold dolphin. This landmark sits atop the roof of the Nagoya Castle. The Fukoaka dunks pays homeage to a festival which is noted to be over 750 years old. The festival is called Yamakasa. For these, each side of the shoe has different decoration and colours. The Osaka dunks is nicknamed the Doutonbori dunk and it pays tribute to the food in Osaka as well one of the most famous Osakan icons, a drumming doll. Check out these pics I got off of sneakerfreaker.com.

Sneaker Diarys

Dear Diary,

Its me again, informing you of another pair of kicks I wear. Today I want to talk about my Adidas Metro Atitudes aka "the materials of the world". Limited to only 500 units world wide, these were a must have. Copped them in the fall of '06 from the Original store down in SoHo. The patterns on the toe and the tongue is what caught my eye. I was kind of suprise to see that the tongue was where most of the action on the shoe was at. That is an old trick by sneaker companies from back in the days. The tongue and the sole were the parts that would catch your eyes. But thats talk for another day. Like I said, I brought them almost 2 yrs ago and has only seen three people with them. Two had the gold version and the one with my color way was in LA. So for them to be under the radar like that makes them more valuable to me. Won't say that they are my favorite(no.1) but they are damn near close. I believe they went under the radar because there was not that much press for them, they just dropped. I believe that is better for the game. I liked the game better when you was not so aware of what is dropping and when. You just had to be lucky and run up on them. Now a days, we has the consumers know when kicks will drop and where before the stores know. Just takes the hype out of sneaker hunting. So in conclusion, I thank adidas for this creation they produced and for not putting out in the open until the last minute. Here is a few pics.

La La Land

In a few days, I will be off to LA. During my stay out there, I will capture their own version of street fashion and compare & contrast it to NY's style. I'm going to do a lot of networking, a couple parties and probably shopping. My first gig is my first night out there. I will be on Melrose Blvd. at the Crooks & Castle store for their Spring release party. The Melrose location is the "Home" for the Crooks & Castle family. This is also the only place where you can find the "8021" Collection. This weekend marks the release of Crooks & Castle's Spring "8021" Collection which showcases a variety of limited tees and also a number of women's limited tees. Also dropping this weekend from the Crooks & Castle family is the "Illuminati Cut & Sew Collection". Here is a few pics of the collection.

Check back later for pics from the event and other collections they have.

Adidas x Lemar & Dauley

Just a few days ago, I posted some pics of the Lemar & Dauley x Adidas. Well today is the official release date for those who haven't scooped them already. Well I didnt lie, I told you that you'll see the teal ones on my feet. I went out and copped mine on friday, didn't want to take any chances of them selling out in my size.

Well I just wanted to update you all on them. The pics that I posted already says them all, but I thought some of y'all would want to know that the interior is a valor material, yes very comfty, and the shoes comes with three extra sets of laces for a total number of four laces. Also on each tip of the laces are the initials "L" and "D". These are collectible items, so if you do get them, do not run them down to the ground. I also like the design of the inner sole. With all that said, Adidas, you did a good job on these. Here is a pic of the inner sole and the laces.

Sneaker Diary

Dear Diary,

All I do is dream about sneakers. I'm in love with quality and creativity of them all. It's artwork on my feet. It also gives me a way 2 express myself non-verbally. Today I want to talk about my favorite sneakers in my closet, Nike Dunk "Football Pack". These dropped in the Spring of '06, prelude to the World Cup. What I like most about them is the different texture. There's leather on the panels, and a sort of suade material on the toe. Also the check is a laser blue which just pops out at you. On the tongue is the futbol (soccer) logo for the 2006 World Cup. I love the different colorways Nike added to them but they aren't vibrant colors. That sort of suprised me since they were a Spring release. They seem suited better 4 the Fall/Winter. With these dunks, I am able to be versatile. I can dress them up or dress them down. That is 1 thing I try to look for in sneakers. There must be some type of versatiliy. Literally speaking, these are 1 of the kicks that is on steady rotation, so yes, they have been through it all with me.

My Fav...

Today's "My Fav" comes from Chatoya aka The Kick Chick... this is our national flava... she is a DC representer...
"These kicks are my favorite because the quality of the sneakers and how long they last. I would wear at least all of these shoes once a week because they truly are my favorites. I love my Blazers because the colors are sick and the two different textures on the shoe is crazy. My Nike Vandal's {Mad Scientists} are my babies... I just love the animation and 3D action on them. Low Blazers are my shoes, I can just put them on with anything and people will still be like check out her kicks. I can't forget the first Countdown Package. These two shoes by themselves are so original and the 13's of course are my favorite J's next to the 16's." This is what the KickChick loves... "I have a variety of different brands of shoes, but I like Jordans and Nikes are my favorites.

Countdown Pack "Hare" Jodan 7

Ever since their resurfacing in December 2002, Air Jordan 7 fans has been waiting for two colorways to drop, the "Hare" and the "Bordeaux". Well get ready to "x" one of them out of your must have list. It is official! On the 21st of June, you will be able to grab a pair of the "Hare" in the Countdown Pack. They are being released with the 16's and will be retailing at $310. The 16/7 are the first set from the Countdown Pack that will be released identical to its original colors. There is much anticipation on this package because both the 16s and 7's are kicks that Jordan wore both as a Bull and a Wizard. Here are some pics of the 7's and 16's for ya!

Okay, and if you know me pretty well, you will know that I am not a fan of Jordans. It's more of the hype behind it, but, yes a but. These are on my list, I am placing a search warrant for these. Been waiting for the 16's to come back for the longest. Wish they were the cherry woods though, but the black and red is still fire. Only J's I'll ever keep my on radar are the 11's, 6's, 16's, and the 7's. So for the 7's and 16's to come out together with fire OG colorways. That's just a plus for me. I missed out on the defining moments pack so best believe I will not miss out on these.

Relieving His Glory

In efforts to relive the glory days of MJ, Jordan Brand is making another hybrid version. This time the hybrid will be a mix of the kicks Jordan himself wore during his championship runs. The "Jordan Six", yes that is the name of them, will consist of pieces and parts from the Air Jordan 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14. As you can see that there are 7 kicks represented on the Air Jordan Six. Well Jordan Brand decided to recognize the 14's as well on these kicks. Here is a brief description of what pieces are apart of these soon to be collectable items.

Air Jordan 6 - Lacelock on laces, heel loop

Air Jordan 7 - Huarache style inner sock

Air Jordan 8 - Fuzzy tongue logo, Velcro strap

Air Jordan 11 - Silhouette of upper

Air Jordan 12 - “T W O 3″ on tongue, metal lace loops at top

Air Jordan 13 - Outsole

Air Jordan 14 - Jumpman at bottom of tongue near the toe

Take a look at these pics provided by 23 is back and nemesis
